So I dusted off an old game that I had in the digital archives

SPACE RANGERS 2 REBOOT. When I had the original versions (1 and 2) back in the day, I never appreciated trading aspect. In fact, I never traded - didn't see the point in it. I always picked a fighting race and a fighting ship and ended up having space battles. Edited the memory to have funds to buy more gadgets, ships, upgrades, etc so I trading would have been a drag. Anyway, after playing Black Market for the last couple of weeks and (waiting for an update)I decided to bust out SR2 and see if I could have fun playing that again, except this time as a trader and playing without any hex edits. End result: KEWL Playing Black Market and then going back to SR2 makes the experience a lot more enjoyable in SR now that I know how to play these types of games... instead of going all out pirate busting and space battles, I can take a more strategic approach and own the enemy. SR2 has trading, different races, hull classes, space battles, text puzzles/quests, overall storyline, and a turn based strategy mini game. BM has trading, hull classes, space battles, text quests, overall storyline. The similarities are probably coincidental. It will be neat to see how Black Market ends up and how many bells and whistles are on the roadmap. So, BBG team, thanks for making a good game - looking forward to seeing more.

Metacritic score of 84! I must play this. Is there anything in Space Rangers that you miss in Black Market?

If you haven't played the game yet, grab it from steam. Seriously... from the minute you launch a new game there is so much going on and so much to do. Different races, different hull classes, different ways to do things and multiple outcomes and decision trees. SR2 Rise of the Dominators -REBOOT, is one game that doesn't go out of style. Just look at the manual: http://store.steampowered.com/app/46330/?snr=1_4_4__13. There are consequences for actions - allies, enemies, higher fees, lower repair, better/worse trade rates, etc. There is also an "end game" where you can (but don't have to) interact with three different races of Dominators that are taking over vast parts of the galaxy and they will eventually engulf it all. As a player you can ignore the threat, you can supply the military and fund the science teams if you are a trader, or you can be a ranger and fight the threat head on, or you can be a pirate and piss off everybody and do whatever you please. Kind of cool I don't work for those guys, I'm just finding so much similarities that once you guys (as devs) take a look at it, you'll have so many different possibilities ( Outside of Vincent's storyline) in terms of gameplay and options. The text puzzles are amazing, even the "get x and take to y then go to z" missions have purpose and make you feel like you are doing something. Seriously the immersion is flawless - you feel like you're making a difference with each decision, mission, etc and... YOU REALLY ARE. That's how I see black market. outside of the Vincent storyline, it seems there could be so much more happening. I know you guys are small studio, but I'm sure there are college interns looking for college credit or senior projects that help your team out. Again... I admire the game. I don't know of the roadmap for black market, or what the end game is envisioned to be, I just know that there is so much potential. I would rather see the development follow some form of completedness before something is rolled out - Even in BETA. Don't roll out a quest with a tree that isn't complete. Don't have quests just for the sake of having quests... just because some idiot fans demand it (like me)... take your time and flush out things in full before enabling them. I would rather log onto a alpha server and see the current version than have things unfinished in the Beta. Then again, i'm not on the team, you guys probably have all of this mapped out and will probably have a good percentage of it finished soon. My own personal opinion is that I'd rather have a completed chapter (with completed branches) over 'filler' missions that don't add much to the canon of the black market universe. Sorry for the long version. No TLDR available. Still a fan, --Krembilar

Wow Krem, that game is a gem! Thanks for bringing it here, I never know it exist until you mention it XD . Some games that I see have same base mechanic with blackmarket is tradewinds series. But I honestly don't like most of them beside tradewinds odyssey and caravan, since only odyssey and caravan have decent characters story.
